Snow White and chaos preview!!

Hey guys!! 1.5 more months of school.. wooOoOo. I'm working on new pieces for our 4th year illustration gradshow which will be awesome!! Hope to see you all there!

My vinyl cover from the last post is up right now at the Vinyl Graffiti show @ the labyrinth store on 386 bloor st. W. If you have time, go and check it out! there's lots of awesome covers from a lot of great artists. My friend peter chan has some nice pictures of the show up on his blog .

I finished this painting at the end of the december last year but I never scanned it until last night! It is a painting of snow white. Oil on wood 12x24 inches.

This next one is a little preview of 1 of the 3 paintings I am doing for a collaborative book with my classmates! The book will feature 14 artists each with a short comic or series of art about 'chaos'. The book will be ready sometimes next month. It'll be around 200 pages and will be sold for $20 I think. Let me know if you want a copy!!

The 3 paintings are painted by me and Peter Chan together. Thanks man for helping me meet the deadline... couldn't have done it without your help!

This is the last piece of the series.

Tears for Cheers

Here is a piece I did for the upcoming art show "Vinyl Graffiti" at The Labyrinth Store. The paintings are all done on vintage vinyl record covers with part of the original cover showing through. There are many great artists involved so be sure not to miss it! The show will be in January following Bobby Chiu's Dragon Sketches show. I'll post more info about the opening night once the date is announced!

My friend Peter Chan has done an awesome painting for the show as well. Check out his on his blog!

Here is my final. It is acrylic and collage on a vintage vinyl record cover.

This is the original cover "The Hurting" by Tears for Fears.

Music is what feelings sound like

This piece marks my transition back to traditional illustration after having worked almost completely digitally for 2 years.. and it feels great!

The only traditional media I really have experience with is acrylics, so I wanted to play with watercolours. My friend Hieng taught me a few neat little tricks like blowing droplets through a straw to get splashy things.. etc. lol.

I did add a few effects digitally though such as the flowers on the girl's dress.

Studioqube cube chewables

These cute guys are a gift for my good friend Cyp and his brother Yoyo from studioqube. Click here to see the original design.

I made them out of this really soft material called cotton jersey or something like that. Aren't they adorable?

Calendar 2007-2008

Here's a calendar I made. I had a strong interest in fashion illustration at the beginning of the year and was intending on using this as a promotional mailer. Maybe I still will.. :)

Painting for Heroes World Tour Fan Event

During the summer, 3 friends (Bonnie, Peter and Daisy) and I were invited to the heroes world tour event in Toronto Dundas Square to paint 4 different cities onsite.

I hadn't watched heroes yet so I didn't know who the actors were, but they aired the first episode at the event and I've caught up and am totally obsessed with the show now. Though the 2nd season was kind of.. eh.

At the event, there was Zachary Quinto (sylar), Noah Gray-Cabey (micah), James Kyson Lee (ando), and Dania Ramirez (maya).
